Kryvoruchenko Stepan H. (“Grass Snake”) (10.18.1969 – 02.05.2015)

The captain of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Stepan Kryvoruchenko (call sign “Grass Snake”) was born on October 18, 1969, in the town of Sarny. He lived on 60 Shyroka Street, apartment №46.   Stepan studied at the local secondary school № 4 where his first teacher was Olha D. Shevtsova.

In the 5th form, Nina D. Symonchuk became his homeroom teacher. His family moved to Crimea when Stepan was 12 years old. After the military service, he continued serving in Germany. Later, Stepan returned to Feodosiia where he got married and began to serve in police forces.

In August 2014, Stepan joined the Ukrainian National Guard where he trained the young fighters.

On December 19, he set out for the Zone of the Anti-terrorist Operation as a volunteer along with Azov Regiment. Stepan commanded a reconnaissance special forces unit.

As a result of the confrontation with the enemy raiding party, Stepan was ambushed. He died on February 5, 2015, near the village of Shyrokyne (according to other data – near Sahanka), Novoazovsk Raion.… Читати далі

Yaroslav Kuryshko (02.09.1994 – 08.12.2014)

Yaroslav Kuryshko was born on February 9, 1994, in the village of Karasyn, Sarny Raion, Rivne Oblast. In 2000, he started a local school. From 2005 to 2011, Yaroslav attended the Church of St. Vasyl in his native village.  During this period of time, he also learned to play the accordion at Sarny Musical School. After finishing the 9th form, Yaroslav transferred to Strilsk Secondary School where he finished 10th form. In 2011, Yaroslav finished 11th form at Sarny Raion Lyceum Leader. In 2011-2012, he studied at Rivne Law Enforcement Academy, in 2012-2013 he served in the Air Force under the General Staff in Kyiv. After that, Yaroslav started to do military service under a contract as a shooter in the 30th Mechanized Infantry Brigade

of the military unit in Novohrad-Volynskyi. He died on August 8, 2014, near the village of Peremoha, Luhansk Oblast, during the strike-search actions of the battalion task force brigade.

According to the Presidential Executive Order № 270/2015 on May 15, 2105, Yaroslav Kuryshko was posthumously awarded the Third Class Order For Bravery “for valor and high professionalism demonstrated in the protection of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the oath of enlistment”.… Читати далі

Serhii Baranov-Orel (12.28.1983-11.8.2014)

Serhii Baranov-Orel was born on December 28th, 1983, in the town of Klesiv. After finishing Klesiv secondary school he was called up for military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.  Having completed the regular military service, he started to work at Klesiv Aggregates Quarry.
At the beginning of August 2014, he was called up to the 79th Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and was appointed as a soldier of a private rank of 4673 unit.
One of the military missions of the unit was to protect Donetsk Airport. Serhii was among the soldiers, called “cyborgs” for their resistance and steadfastness demonstrated during heroic defence of the airport.
Serhii was wounded, lost a lot of blood, and died on November 8, 2014, around 4 a.m. at Donetsk Airport. On November 12, 2014, everyone from the town of Klesiv came to pay the last respects to the warrior.
After a Requiem in the Cathedral, he was buried next to his father at the cemetery of his native town.… Читати далі
