Салівончик Руслан Сергійович (31.01.1983 – 29.08.2014)

Ruslan Salivonchyk was born on January 31, 1983, in the town of Kostopil, Rivne Oblast. From 1993 to 1998 he studied at Kostopil Secondary School №8. He graduated from the Kostopil branch of the Medical College and later from Kharkiv Juridical University. Later on, he served as the Captain in the police. For six years he worked in the Criminal Investigation Department of Local Police Precinct of Administration of Ministry of Internal Affairs in the town of Kakhovka in Kherson Oblast. From the beginning of the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Eastern Ukraine, he joined as a volunteer a Battalion of the Special Operations Patrol Service “Kherson”.

Police Captain Ruslan Salivonchyk died on 08.29.2014 in the ATO battle zone near the town of Ilovaisk, Donetsk Oblast while trying to get out of the Ilovaisk Pothole through the so-called “green corridor” on the road between village Mnohopillia and Chervonosilske. From September 2014, the soldier’s body together with the other deceased was transported to Dnipropetrovsk morgue. He was identified by the combat comrades and family. Ruslan was buried on September 6 in Kostopil.

He left a wife and a daughter.

According to the Presidential Executive Order № 838/2014 on October 31, 2014, Ruslan was posthumously awarded the Third Class Order For Bravery “for personal courage and heroism demonstrated in the defense of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath”.

 

Last weekend in Kostopil the compatriots were buried who had been killed in the battles in the East of Ukraine

On Saturday, September 6, on the maidan Hrushevskoho near the monument to the Ukrainian prophet Taras Shevchenko a farewell ceremony was held with 31-year-old police captain Ruslan Salivonchyk.

Ruslan was born in Kostopil. After finishing secondary school №2 he studied at the medical school, later – at Zaporizhzhia Law Institute. Later he worked in the criminal prosecution department of Kakhovka police station, and with the beginning of an antiteroristic operation in eastern Ukraine, he volunteered for the Kherson battalion.

Teachers of the Kostopil Medical College and Ruslan’s groupmates say that he was distinguished from other students by his activity and an extraordinary sense of humor. Constantly taking part in various students’ events, he defended the honor of the college at volleyball and basketball competitions. Once on the regional festival “Student Spring” in Rivne drama theater he sang the song “Why I was not falcon.” After the performance the hall applauded standing.

Ruslan Salivonchyk died in the “green corridor” near Ilovaisk. Colleagues from Kherson police, who arrived at the funeral, told that during the ATO he had a callous “Pozytyvik” – for his truly positive character. And when the commander of the battalion died during the battle, he took command of himself with no hesitation.

On Sunday, September 7, parents, relatives and thousands of inhabitants of Kostopil said goodbye with another hero – 23-year-old Vitalii Stavskyi. The guy was a fighter of the 80th Airmobile Brigade (Lviv) and snatched in the zone of the ATO in Lugansk.

Vitalii was a pupil of the Kostopil regional boarding school of physical culture and sports. Here he was remembered as a friendly and cheerful boy. Most of all, he loved sports, so he was demanded both for training and for competitions. In 2007, in the city of Rivne, Vitalii Stavskyi became the champion of Ukraine in the Greco-Roman wrestling among young men. Then he completed the standard of master of sports. Since October 2011, he was contracted in the military part in Lviv.

Thousands of inhabitants of Kostopil and residents of the region accompanied Ruslan Salivonchyk  and Vitalii Stavskyi on their  last way with the words “Heroes do not die.” These people forever remain as an example of heroism, courage and co-sacrifice. They really wanted Ukraine to become holistic and independent.

In Kostopil the Mortal days  were announced  on Saturday and Sunday.

Rivne region farewell to three dead soldiers. In Rivne, 21-year-old Oleksandr Borysenko and in Kostopil  31-year-old Ruslan Salivonchyk and 23-year-old Vitalii Stavskyi were accompanied in the funeral by the citizens. Since the beginning of the fighting, twenty of our compatriots have already died in the Donbas.

On Saturday, during the afternoon, traffic was blocked through the center of Rivne. City accompanied the funeral of 21-year-old Oleksandr Borysenko.  Our compatriot served as a soldier in the 30th individual mechanic team from Novograd-Volynskyi in Zhytomyr region and died in the ATO area in eastern Ukraine.

On Friday, members of the city executive committee of the city council gathered for an extraordinary meeting and began it with a minute of silence, at the meeting they decided to allocate funds for the burial. On the same day, Oleksandr was taken to Rivne, to the parents’ home on Korolenko Street, 4. On Saturday, the coffin with the body of the hero was placed in the Holy Virgin Cathedral, and after the funeral, the mourning procession went to the “New” cemetery.  Olexandr was buried next to the dead heroes of the ” Heavenly Hundred “.

On Sunday, Kostopil citizens also farewell to the hero Vitalii Stavskyi , 23-year-old, was a fighter of the 80th Airmobile Brigade (Lviv) and snatched in the zone of the ATO in Luhansk. Vitalii was a pupil of Kostopil regional boarding school of physical culture and sports., champion of Ukraine-2007 (Rivne), master of sports from Greco-Roman wrestling. Since October 2011, the fighter has been contracted in the military part in Lviv.

On Sunday evening, Kostopil citizens came with candles and lamps to the Taras Shevchenko monument to pray for the calm of the killed soldiers and to say that the heroes are not dying, but they live in our hearts and we must always remember it. Soldiers who came from the east of Ukraine in the short vacation also came to pray and they applauded and chanted: “Thank you!”.

On Friday, February 20, students, teachers, representatives of the authorities,  inhabitants of Kostopil and relatives of Ruslan Salivonchyk, who died defending their homeland from enemy came to the yard of Kostopil secondary school №8. Ruslan studied at secondary school №8 from 1993 to 1998.. He graduated from the Kostopil  School of Medicine and  Kharkiv Law University. He was a captain of the police. He worked for six years in the criminal investigation sector in Kakhovka Regional State Administration of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Kherson region. From the beginning of the anti-terrorist operation in the East of Ukraine, he volunteered to the battalion of the patrol service of personal appointment “Kherson”. He was killed in battle near Ilovaisk during exiting from the besiegement. He was awarded the Order “For Courage” of the III degree.

On the line-requiem, dedicated to the hero, in the performance of students and teachers there were songs, poetry in honor of the courageous, selfless defenders of the Fatherland. The priests of the UOC-KP consecrated the memorial plaque. Serhii Yakymovych and  Halyna Petrivna – the parents, brother Oleksandr, sister Olga, with others, who were presented  at the event  shared a bitter pain of loss.  The speeches were proclaimed by the head of the RDA Stanislav Shulgan, deputy chairman of the district council Valerii Mech, city mayor Yevhenii Denisiuk, Ruslan’s colleagues, ATO fighters Igor Targonii, Yurii Regeza, Viacheslav Melezhik, volunteers who provide soliders with everything necessary, Volodymyr and Ruslan Ovdiichiuk, Yuriy Shumeiko.

The memory of Ruslan Salivonchyk will live forever in the hearts of inhabitants of Kostopil, always reminding of love for his native land, for the sake of which he gave his young life.

Memorial to the Heroes of Ukraine

On August 23 at the State Flag of Ukraine in Kostopil the grand opening of the Memorial to the Heroes of Ukraine took place.

It has become a landmark event for the local community, the families of the dead. On the memorial the names were chiseled of the heroes of the “Heavenly Hundred” and the compatriots who died during a counterterrorist operation in the east of the country: Vitalii Stavskyi, Ruslan Salivonchyk, Serhii Holovchak and Roman Pyiasiuk.

On his Facebook page the former head of the Kostopil State Administration Yurii Kuzniuk expressed his gratitude to all those who were not  indifferent  and  joined this holy deed, and with the help of the photo illustrated the chronology of the implementation of restoration works and improvement of the adjoining territory. Yurii Kuzniuk also named by name all the benefactors who provided financial assistance (funds, construction materials or directly performed work) for this holy deed.

A year has passed since the tragic death of the heroes of Kostopil

On August 29, 2015, the year passed from the day of the tragic event, when the first two soldiers of the Kostopil – Ruslan Salivonchyk and Vitalii Stavskyi – were killed protecting Ukraine from the invaders. In memory of the dead heroes, memorial plaques are installed in the city, and their names, which forever remain in the hearts of the countrymen, are immortalized at the Memorial to the Heroes of Ukraine.

On the anniversary of the death of defenders of the Fatherland, the place of their burial in the Kostopil cemetery was visited by the Mayor Yevhen Denysiuk, who laid flowers and honored the memory of soldiers ATO.
