The Death is looking for the best among us…

The twenty-year-old paratrooper from Rivne Dmytro Sviderskyi was buried in Basiv Kut cemetery yesterday.

The tomb is near his father’s one. The sour, unrelenting words are written on yellow-blue ceremonial wreath’s ribbons: “From Mom”, “From Grandmother”, “From brothers”.  The brethren in airmobile brigade carried Dmytro’s coffin on their shoulders from his father’s humble house, that had been orphaned the second time these days, to his Petropavlivsk church for the requiem mass.  You may ask why the church is called to be “his”.

  • Since he was twelve, Dima served as a clerk, – says Mykola, almost the same age fighter’s friend. – Such people are few in number, he had a light, kind and angelic soul. On 8th March he came, prayed and had a Holy Communion. Consider, he bid farewell…
  • Dmytro was the youngest person in the ‘cyborg’ battalion. He wasn’t afraid of anything, rared to the front line, asked for being sent to the Donetsk terminal – about his battle fellow the Staff Sergeant Fedir Misiura says, who since the very induction date to the last friend’s fatally shot served with Dmytro side by side. – Dmytro died a hero, while carrying out the fighting mission. It happened near Avdiivka.  While cleaning-up the treeline, five of us were blown up on an anti-personnel mine. Three of them had perished right away, Dmytro died in the hospital.
  • God always calls over the best people – after the Holy Communion the deceased soldier’s mentor Chief Priest Dmytro said about Dmytro Sviderskyi , who had died on the battlefield and then was lying in a coffin in the middle of church.

Heroes don’t die. The Orthodox priest knows this for sure. Ukrainians know too. But the inhuman horde, that came to our land with the aim to murder, pillage and conquer, will never understand it.
