Vladyslav Rylskyi (07.20.1992 – 08.13.2014)

Vladyslav Rylskyi was born on July 20, 1992, in the city of Vinnytsia in the military family; his father was a military man, a teacher of Ostroh Military Lyceum. Vladyslav graduated from Ostroh Teaching and Educational Complex “School-Gymnasium of I-III Stages. He studied at the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy in the city of Lviv. In 2013, he graduated from it with a degree in Management of the Actions of Units of Mechanized Troops. Later he became an officer. He joined the Anti-Terrorist Operation as a Senior Lieutenant, Commander of the Second Mechanized of the 24th Mechanized Brigade from the town of Yavir.

Vladyslav participated in the ATO from 24 May 2014. From the first days in the ATO area, the platoon under his commandment was performing the service on block-posts in Donetsk Oblast. His skillful commandment of the platoon and continuous improvement of skills of subordinate personnel staff resulted in the creation of an assault group for destroying terrorists in direct contact with the enemy formed on the basis of his platoon.… Читати далі

Kirys Oleksii S. (03.30.1981 – 12.07.2015)

Oleksii Kirys was born on March 30, 1981, in the village of Smordva, Mlyniv Raion. Having finished Mlyniv Gymnasium of Liberal Arts in 1998,  he entered Rivne Institute of Water Management. Oleksii worked as a sales assistant in Technodim Private Enterprise. In October of 2012, he became a security guard in Mlyniv Tourism and Local History Center of Students’ Creativity. Oleksii took part in the events of the Revolution of Dignity at Nezalezhnosti Maidan. He was also a volunteer in the Aidar Battalion since February 2014.

However, on December 27, 2015, being at the observation post, Oleksii received a shrapnel wound during the shelling near the village of Novhorodske, Donetsk Oblast. The wounds turned out to be mortal. He was buried on December 30, in the town of  Mlyniv, Mlyniv Raion, Rivne Oblast. Oleksii left a mother and a younger brother who also fought in the Zone of Counter-terrorist Operation.

According to the Presidential Executive Order № 216/2016 on May 18, 2016, the soldier was posthumously awarded the Third Class Order For Bravery “for valor and high professionalism demonstrated in the protection of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the oath of enlistment”.… Читати далі

Halas Roman (12.01.1975-08.08.2015)

Roman Halas was born on December 1, 1975, in Sokal, Lviv Oblast. He finished Sokal school №1 with honors. After graduation, he entered the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv where he studied at the Department of Geography.  Having got married, Roman moved to Mlyniv. He worked at the factory in Lutsk. During the fourth wave of conscription in February 2015, he joined the Armed Forces where he served as a platoon commander of the 16th Motorized Infantry Battalion, a senior lieutenant. Unfortunately, his officer path turned out to be rather short.

On August 8, 2015, thirty-nine-year-old Roman Halas died in the fight near Artemivsk.

In the morning of August 11, the coffin with Roman was delivered to his family nest in Mlyniv, where he had been living, making plans and fulfilling them during the last 17 years. After the wake, Roman’s body was moved to Sokal.

Roman Halas was buried in the new cemetery alongside the other two heroes who lost their lives in the counter-terrorist operation, Viktor Syvak and Roman Lan.… Читати далі

Yurii Itkaliuk (04.23.1966-02.04.2015)

Yurii Itkaliuk was born on April 23rd, 1966, in Rudleve, Mlyniv Raion, Rivne Oblast.  Having finished Vovnychi School, he entered Demydivka Vocational School №25, where he obtained a tractor driver and an engineer qualification. Yurii grew up without a father. Thus hard work of an agricultural worker lay on the child’s shoulders.

After military service, Yurii decided to become a serviceman.  He finished The School of Ensigns, served in Czechoslovakia, Kaliningrad, and Odesa.

Shortly after that, Yurii came back home. At first, he worked as a driver on a collective farm. Later he became a mechanic in a car fleet. Yurii raised two sons Ivan and Borys, as actual Ukrainians, diligent and hard-working people in a happy family. He worked as a tractor driver in Vovnychi Village Council.

As a soldier and patriot, Yurii Itkaliuk was mobilized. After the training and the re-training in Yavoriv, Lviv Oblast, and Kryvyi Rih, he fought at the Zone of Counter-terrorist Operation in Luhansk Oblast.… Читати далі

Petro Polytsiak (“Black”) (07.05.1992 – 01.20.2015)

Petro Polytsiak was born on July 5, 1992, in the village of Bobryn, Mlyniv Raion. He studied at the local secondary school. Petro lived in Dubno from where he was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The cyborg served in the 80th Air Mobile Brigade. The hero had a code name “Chornyi” (“Black”).

Before going to the Zone of the Anti-Terrorist Operation, Petro worked as a builder and was about to get married.

His relatives weren’t receiving any information about him for a long time. The connection with Petro was lost after the explosion in Donetsk airport. He wasn’t in the list of captives.

Later, it became known that the body of the soldier was delivered from under the ruins to the morgue of one of Dnipropetrovsk hospitals. Petro Polytsiak died on January 20, 2015.

According to the Presidential Executive Order №282/2015 on May 23, 2015, Petro was posthumously decorated with the Third Class Order For Bravery “for personal courage and high professionalism demonstrated in the protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and loyalty to the military oath”.… Читати далі

Serhii Mosiichuk (02.22.1997 – 03.26.2017)

Serhii Mosiichuk was born on February 22, 1997, in the town of Korets. He studied at Korets Comprehensive School №1. After finishing 9 forms, Serhii entered Korets High Technical School №24, which he graduated in 2015.

From January 2016, he served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the contract basis. He participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) on the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts.

Serhii died on March 26, 2017, near Avdiivka due to separatists’ shellfire of the ATO military. The death happened as a result of the mine explosion.

Funeral service for the deceased took place in St. Nicholas Church.

The soldier left parents, a sister and a brother.… Читати далі

Oleksii Kondratiuk (07.05.1995 – 03.17.2017)

Kondratiuk Oleksii Volodymyrovych was the gunner of the grenade launch unit of the platoon of fire support for the 501th Battalion, the Marine Corps of the 36th Separated Marine Corps brigade, the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the sailor.

He was born on July 5, 1995 in the village of Piskov, Kostopil district, Rivne region. Some time later, the family moved to the city of Kostopil, Rivne region. He graduated from the 9th form of secondary school No.3 in the city of Kostopil. In 2012 he graduated from Sarny Professional Agricultural Lyceum and got a profession of “Tractor driver and mechanic of agricultural production, locksmith-repairman”.

He worked as a plumber-sanitary technician in a multi-sectoral housing and communal enterprise in the city of Kostopil.

In May 2016, he was called by the Kostopil District Military Commissariat of the Rivne region for military service under the contract of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 501th Separate Battalion of the Marine Corps of the 36th Special Brigade of the Marine Corps of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1965, the city of Berdiansk, Zaporizhzhia region).… Читати далі

Yurii Tkachuk (11.15.1968 – 07.31.2016)

Yurii Tkachuk was born on November 15, 1968, in the town of Kostopil. In 1986, Yurii graduated from the School №1 named after Taras Shevchenko, then he served in the army and was trained in Kiev Higher Tank Engineering School. From 1992, a new phase in the life of Yurii Tkachuk began – service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Dedication to the military case, the desire to give his experience, his knowledge for Ukraine were attached to studying in Kiev Military Academy and obtaining the appropriate diploma. Yurii served at different positions, the latest one – the deputy head of the Center of Maintenance of Contracts Realization about Arms Reduction, which is stationed in the city of Lviv. During 2015-2016, Yurii performed his service tasks in the zone of ATO.

The Lieutenant Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yurii Tkachuk died on July 31, 2016.

Yuri Tkachuk was awarded: the Medal “for conscientious service” I degree, Medal “for achievements in the military service of the II degree, merit of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine “Badge of honor”, merit of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine “Veteran of military service”, the gorget of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine “For military heroism” (for courage and heroism displayed during execution of official tasks during the ATO).… Читати далі

Ivan P. Dus (07.06.1984 – 05.18.2016)

Ivan Dus was born on July 6, 1984, in the large family in the village of Velyka Kuplia, Berezne Raion, Rivne Oblast. His mother Lidiia I. Basiuk brought up her son by herself. In 1990, Ivan started a school of Zamostyshche. Having finished it in 1999, he entered Kostopil Technical College where he had been studying for 2 years. After graduation in 2001, Ivan obtained the qualification of bricklayer and plasterer.

Due to the Presidential Executive Order About Partial Mobilization, on April 22, 2015, Ivan joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From May 25, 2015, to August 17, 2015, he was in the sector “M” in the city of Mariupol,  from August 18, 2015 to October 17, 2015 – in the sector “B” in the city of Kurakove, and  from November 10, 2015 to May 18, 2016 – in the city of Stanytsia Luhanska. Oleksandr Matsiuk (04.04.1975 – 04.29.2016)

Oleksandr Matsiuk was born on April 4, 1975, in the village of Velyka Liubasha, Kostopil Raion. In 1982, he started Piskiv Comprehensive School, which he finished in 1992.

He took driver training courses in Rivne Volunteer Society for Cooperation with the Army, Aviation, and Navy (DOSAAF) to obtain a category “C”. In June 1993, Oleksandr was called up into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.  He served as a National Guard driver of the armored personnel carrier (APC) in the city of Chuhuiv, Kharkiv Oblast. In the autumn of 1994, Oleksandr was discharged from the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Shortly afterward, he worked at the collective farm of 40th Anniversary of October in the Kostopil House Building Factory.

On February 5, 2015, Oleksandr volunteered for military service to defend his Motherland. He underwent training at Rivne Military Firing Ground. In May 2015, he was rotated to the Zone of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) as a gunner of the self-propelled gun (SPG) as a part of the 14th Brigade in the town of Mariinka.… Читати далі
